India Arie Simpson was brought to the attention of the world in 2001 with her debut album Acoustic Soul. Since then she has released three more albums but none of them as deep, honest and down to earth as the first one. Why is she cool? She embraces and lives out a healthy view on the female body. Her song Video is, in my opinion, one of the best songs on the subject self esteem. It’s a bit cliché and silly but at the same time quite funny and behind the clever rhymes there’s an important message, especially for young girls.
