Nr. 51 – Kim Deal

Kim Deal is lead singer and guitarist of The Breeders (although, in this clip she plays the drums), and also the bass player and backup singer of punk band The Pixies. Deal formed The Breeders with her twin sister in high school. At first it was just the two of them playing and recording everything in their own little bedroom studio. But the band, as we know it, was officially formed in 1988 and the line-up has changed a lot through the years with Deal as the only continual member. In 1986 Deal answered an advertisement, by The Pixies, for a bassist who was into hardcore punk and folk music. She showed up at the audition without a bass, plus she had never played the instrument before, yet she eventually became the bass player of The Pixies. Why is she cool? She is a doer. Formed a band and building a studio with her sister in her teens and showing up to an audition without even having played the instrument and yet turned out to be successful in both these projects over time.
