Natalie Maines, singer of the Dixie Chicks, changed the situation completely for the entire band by just uttering the words “Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas” in London in 2003. If you don’t know the rest of the story, look it up or listen to the text of the song. For a very long time the Dixie Chicks were banned on American radio channels. In 2006 the Dixie Chicks released this song – Not Ready To Make Nice.
Why is she cool? Besides from the fact that she’s got a really cool voice, she’s cool because she’s not afraid to speak her mind and with her saying those words she started an important discussion.
