The coolest songs Dusty Springfield has recorded are Son of A Preacher Man, Just A Little Lovin’ and The Look of Love but while looking for clips of those songs I ended up smiling and singing along watching this clip. And that’s the way it is with a lot of Dusty-songs. You can’t help singing along, whether it’s The Look of Love, In the Middle of Nowhere or I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself, it’s hard to resist turning up the volume and forget about the neighbours. Why is she cool? She fits many meanings of the adjective cool. She is cool as in relaxed. She is cool as in calm. She is cool as in sharp, hip and fierce. If I was writing in Swedish I would be tempted to use words such as tuff, fräck, fräsig och pigg right now, haha. Those words may not be considered cool. But Dusty Springfield is.
